Virginia Taylor Edwards, 95, of Jacksonville, passed away on August 8, 2017. She was born April 13, 1922 in Palatka, Florida, the second of four children of Louis and Priscilla Taylor. Her family moved to Jacksonville and she grew up on a farm on the Northside. She attended Norwood Elementary and Kirby Smith Junior High before graduating from Andrew Jackson High in January 1940. Virginia married her handsome Fred Edwards in 1941 and they moved to Jacksonville Beach in 1949. She spent many years as a stay at home mom raising their four children before...

Virginia Taylor Edwards, 95, of Jacksonville, passed away on August 8, 2017. She was born April 13, 1922 in Palatka, Florida, the second of four children of Louis and Priscilla Taylor. Her family moved to Jacksonville and she grew up on a farm on the Northside. She attended Norwood Elementary and Kirby Smith Junior High before graduating from Andrew Jackson High in January 1940. Virginia married her handsome Fred Edwards in 1941 and they moved to Jacksonville Beach in 1949. She spent many years as a stay at home mom raising their four children before teaching Kindergarten at her church, Beach Methodist. She began working full time and retired from Southeast Bank to spend time with her beloved grandchildren. After the death of her husband Fred in 1997, she lived on her own and enjoyed activities at her church and with friends at Jackson Jills. She moved to Harbor Chase Assisted Living in 2014.

Virginia is survived by her children, Sharon Grey (Lindsay), Jim Edwards (Carolyn), Raymond Edwards (Rhonda) and Ramona Edwards; grandchildren, Michael Grey (Caren), Carly Allen (Johnny), Fred Grey (Christina), Brad Edwards (Terry), David Edwards (Kristen), Travis Edwards and Caitlyn Keys (Jimmy); great-grandchildren, Lauren Grey, Kayleigh Guarino, Blake Edwards, Cashton Edwards, Austin Edwards, Cason Edwards, Ela Edwards, Clyde Keys and Baby Girl Keys due in December; special fifth child, Lynne Tripp; sister-in-law, Barbara Taylor and Marie Taylor and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Interment will follow at H. Warren Smith Cemetery.
